TLU SA disappointed by Circus of the Nation 2020
TLU SA is extremely disappointed in the events during the attempted State of the Nation (SONA), or rather CONA – Circus of the Nation – of President Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament.
The inability of the Speaker of Parliament, Thandi Modise, to keep the order or to even get the activities started, is a true reflection of how South Africa is run at the moment.
“It is pathetic and a disgrace that the chosen leaders of the country can permit such a circus during one of the most important events of the year, while the rest of the world’s eyes are on us,” says Mr Louis Meintjes, the president of TLU SA. “South Africa is already struggling with a myriad of problems which should urgently get attention. It is undeniable that the wellbeing of South Africans is at the bottom of the ANC and EFF’s list of priorities. There is no self-respect, no self-discipline, and it is only the ‘self’ that matters.
“We are making an urgent call on the President, Speaker and all members of Parliament to consider the damage this circus have caused South Africa’s future,” says Mr Meintjes.

TLU SA is uiters teleurgesteld in vanaand se verrigtinge in die Parlement tydens President Cyril Ramaphosa se poging om sy Staatsrede, of eerder Sirkusrede (Circus of the Nation – CONA), vir 2020 te lewer.
Die Speaker van die Parlement, Thandi Modise se onvermoë om orde te skep en selfs die verrigtinge aan die gang te kry, is ‘n spieëlbeeld van hoe Suid-Afrika op die oomblik bestuur word.
“Dit is werklik pateties en skandalig dat die land se gekose leiers so ‘n sirkus kan toelaat tydens een van die belangrikste gebeurtenisse van die jaar, terwyl die wêreld se oë op ons gerig is,” sê mnr. Louis Meintjes, die president van TLU SA. “Suid-Afrika struikel reeds onder soveel probleme wat dringend aandag verg. Dit is baie duidelik dat die welstand van Suid-Afrikaners baie laag op die prioriteitslys van die ANC en EFF is. Daar is geen selfrespek, geen selfdissipline en net die eie ‘ons’ maak saak.
“Ons doen ‘n ernstige beroep op die President, Speaker en elke parlementslid om te besin oor wat hierdie sirkus vir die toekoms van Suid-Afrika gaan beteken,” sê mnr. Meintjes.
