Fanie Brink, Independent Agricultural Economist

"The statements and claims of the former Public Protector that 'there is still hope in the country' are probably the biggest delusion over the facts and realities yet published in South Africa over the last 25 years," says Fanie Brink, an independent agricultural economist.

Brink referred to the article “Daar is nog hoop in dié land” (“There is still hope in this country”) published today in the Rapport by professor Thuli Madonsela who holds the chair in social justice at the University of Stellenbosch.

He says Madonsela cites at least 20 reasons as evidence of how the ANC government continues to irreversibly destroy the economy and the country. However, she then tries to deny and justify everything with ridiculous arguments such as "Nobody can honestly say that we are heading in the wrong direction," "... that it is unfair to say that the country is still only on the downhill path since Ramaphosa's takeover" "... Ramaphosa has been consistent by showing leadership that installed confidence," "He found ... .. ways to solve the land issue." "He was also consistent on the non-negotiability of social justice as a bridge to sustainable growth."

"While his government's policies of socialism and communism cannot create growth but can only destroy it!"

The chance that land reform will ever be successfully implemented by the ANC government is very slim, but the damage caused by its total failure will mean the destruction of agricultural production, food security and agriculture's contribution to economic growth.

Madonsela's statements and claims do not honour her competence as a former Public Protector, in fact, she unfortunately reveals her staggering lack of insight, ignorance and incompetence about the political and economic facts and realities of the country, as do many other legal and political commentators!!

The political goals and reforms of the ANC will not be achieved by the destruction of the economy and the country for which the final countdown has already begun!

"By 2023/24, the country will lose its status as a developing country and fall back into an underdeveloped country with the consequences of a destroyed democracy, no economic growth, unprecedented famine and human suffering," Brink said.
